History of Lima City Schools
The Lima City School District celebrated 150 years of public education during the 2006-2007 school year. First known as the Lima Union Schools in 1856, the school district has played an important role in the rich history of Lima. To review the history, please click the links.

The artwork above was created by Tony Lovett, Lima Senior 2007. It incorporates all of the buildings that have served as the district's high schools.

Upper left, East Building - upper right, Lima High School, which became known as Central - lower left, South High School - lower right, original Lima Senior High School - center, current Lima Senior High School.

Special thanks goes to Jack Saine, South 1950 and retired administrator for the Lima City Schools, for compiling much of the district history that appears here.
