West Middle School

Welcome to Lima West Middle School! I hope all students and parents are as excited about the 2016-2017 school year as I am. As a former Spartan (Class of 1989) and the proud father of two Lima Senior High School graduates (Sydni 2014 and Reghan 2016) I cannot tell you how honored I am to be the Principal at West Middle School.

As the principal, I plan to establish positive, productive relationships within the school and community while maintaining a focus of helping all students learn, grow and feel like real human beings. While providing opportunities for all students the professional and caring staff members will implement and establish a “Spartan P.R.I.D.E.” that all students will experience while at West Middle School.

Promote & Establish High Expectations
Raise Academic Expectations
Increase Student Involvement
Develop Quality Consistent Teaching & Coaching
Engage & Increase Community Support

As we work to establish the academic rigor mandated by the Ohio Department of Education we will also provide numerous opportunities to help create and develop a well-rounded individual. Students will have opportunities to participate in Choir, Band, Orchestra, and Drumline. As well as the opportunity to participate in the Kiwanis Builders Club, local and regional Spelling Bees, and school wide fundraisers that will benefit both the school and community. West Middle School also has a CTAG (Closing the Achievement Gap) program in which students receive mentors and positive role models to help reinforce the importance of positive values and academic success. The CTAG mentors will assist students in establishing and reaching their goal of receiving a high school diploma while promoting career explorations or continuing their educational career at the college level. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities as they compete in Football, Cross-Country, Volleyball, Basketball, Wrestling, Baseball, Softball and Track. West is a member of the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

As the students at West Middle School begin to develop into young adults, I feel it is important to develop positive and productive relationships with the parents and/or guardians as well. This relationship is crucial and will help ensure the Student, Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Staff are working together to provide the best education possible.  In an effort to develop positive and productive relationships the staff and I plan to host activities throughout the school year and encourage all parents to get involved. We will offer the Most Valuable Parent Program, Family BINGO, Muffins with Mom, Donuts with Dad, and a Grandparents Lunch as well as several other activities to increase parental involvement.

I am proud to be a Spartan and look forward to developing and instilling that Spartan PRIDE in all of the students at West Middle School.  I would also welcome the opportunity to show you around West Middle School. As we take the tour, I believe you will see the positive, productive relationships between the students and staff that allows each student the opportunity to learn, grow and feel like a real human being. If you would like visit or find out more about West Middle School please call 419-996-3150.  I always look forward to meeting new families and taking the time to answer your questions.
