Welcome to Independence Elementary School. Our school has served the families of Lima’s North Side since 2004. As a PreK-4 building, yearly activities are varied and supported by staff and the local PTS.
The first chapter of K-Kids in our four-county area began here in 2009. The community service oriented group is sponsored by the Lima Kiwanis Club and performs many charitable activities during the school year.
Independence Elementary is a PBIS school implementing evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving overall outcomes for all students. We use the online Classroom Dojo platform to communicate with Spartan families about academic and behavioral performances. We take a proactive stance to support our families during the school year with an emphasis on constant student centered communication.
In addition, Independence annually holds various events, including a Paint and Take Family Craft Night, a Skate Night, book fairs, a Family Bingo Night, Christmas program, fourth grade recognition, and a field day.
Students also benefit from receiving Title I services, two mobile and two stationary computer labs, full-time nurse, librarian and social worker. At Independence, with the support of our families and community, we operate to fulfill the mission of the Lima City Schools; providing a climate in which every student learns.
I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about our school or how you can become involved at Independence.
