The Lima City Schools will soon celebrate Public Schools Week as it has for several years, but this year’s District-Wide Open House will look a little different with a few added attractions for families.
This year’s event will include the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt of sorts, and a Community Pep Rally. The pep rally will begin at 5 p.m. in the Lima Senior Gymnasium, with the open house starting at 5:15 p.m. The night will conclude at 7 p.m.
Superintendent Jill Ackerman said the pep rally is a chance for the district and the community to celebrate the students and staff of the Lima City Schools and all the district has to offer. It is also a time to uplift public education.
"It is a time to remind those who need to hear it, that we are doing incredible things here in the Lima City Schools, and that public education is thriving and it is important," she said.
The pep rally will include the Lima Senior Marching Pride, Spartan Cheerleaders, speakers and a proclamation from the Mayor’s Office.
Once the open house begins, students will get a punch card and be asked to visit several spots to get their cards punch. Once completed, they can get their candy-filled Easter eggs, with the chance to win other prize.
Prizes will include gift cards to local restaurants, Westgate Entertainment, Alter Ego Comics, Regal Cinemas, Sky Zone, and a family game night basket full of board games and snacks.
A special thanks to this year’s donors Alter Ego Comics, Cenovus Lima Refinery, Smith Boughan, Sullivan Insurance, Westgate Entertainment and our biggest sponsor Cotterman & Company. Also, thanks to the West Ohio Food Bank for donating food for our meal.
