Message from Superintendent

Welcome to the Lima City Schools. Let me first thank you for choosing us. I know there are many educational options available to families. We want the chance to educate every child because we know every child has potential. And we want to be the school district that helps each find success.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with our district, let me share just a few of the many highlights. They start with our amazing staff and diverse families, all striving and working together to make sure our students’ needs are met and that they are prepared for the future.

We offer a comprehensive high school with many options for students: Dual enrollment classes to earn college credits, 12 career and technical education programs, an array of music and art opportunities for all ages and much more. Along with our neighborhood elementary schools and two middle schools, the district has two kindergarten through eighth-grade magnet programs; one for the arts and the other for science and technology.

Superintendent Jill Ackerman

We are home to the Spartans and the Spartan spirit is as strong as ever. Our return to one high school has sparked a new camaraderie among our students and a renewed Spartan pride and allegiance to Lima City Schools throughout our community.

I have been a Spartan my entire career, starting off as a teacher many years ago at Emerson and Lowell elementary schools and then Lima North Middle School. I was privileged to serve as an assistant principal and then principal at North before becoming assistant superintendent in 2003.

I was fortunate and humbled to be named superintendent of this great district in 2012. I am proud that I chose to stay and serve in the Lima City Schools. The students, staff, parents and community are like no other. I believe in Lima and I believe in the Lima City Schools!

I am also a proud parent of a child in the Lima City Schools. My son is a junior at Lima Senior High School. My husband and I wanted only the best for our son, and that is without a doubt the Lima City Schools. We are proud parents of this district and proud residents of the city of Lima.

If you have questions about our district, please feel free to contact me at 419-996-3411 or jackerman@spartan.limacityschools.org.

Go Spartans!

Jill Ackerman, Superintendent
