The Lima City Schools will hold its annual Back to School Celebration and School Supply Giveaway from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Martin Luther King Park, 400 E. Eighth St.

The night will include free school supplies, with students being able to select the book bag they want and then go through a line selecting supplies.

Families are invited to come and enjoy a hotdog meal and other games and activities. Westgate Entertainment will bring games and the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio will also have activities. The Lima Senior Face Painters will be at the park, along with the Spartan Ride. Various community resources will have booths set up.

There will be kickball and basketball and the Spartan Cheerleaders will be at the park teaching cheers.

The Lima Police Department will be at the park grilling hotdogs and the Lima Fire Department will bring its mascot, Patches.

The event is made possible thanks to partners who collect supplies and donate funds to purchase supplies and food. Thanks to the Aktion Club, Allen-Oakwood Correctional Institution, Altrusa International, Bob Evans Farms, Cenovus Lima Refinery, Citizens National Bank, Cotterman & Company, Culligan Water, Gordon Food Service, Lima Congress of School Administrative Personnel, Lima Education Association, Lima Kiwanis Club, Lima Memorial Health System, Nickles Bakery, Peacock Water, Procter & Gamble's Toretto Project (including Weitz, Vaughn Industries and Icon Mechanical), Reiter Dairy, RightWay Food Service, Salvation Army, Sisters in Service Community Foundation of the Sigma Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, St. Luke's Lutheran Church and Trinity United Methodist Church.
