Back to School Celebration, Free School Supplies coming Aug. 11

The Lima City Schools will hold its annual Back to School Celebration and School Supply Giveaway from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Martin Luther King Park, 400 E. Eighth Street.


Families are invited to the park for a free picnic dinner and students will be able to select a book bag and the school supplies they need for the new school year. Students must be present to get school supplies.

 

There will also be face painting, games and activities, and families can visit the Spartan Ride, Sparky the Fire Dog and booths set up by the Salvation, Army, Lima Public Library, Art Space/Lima and others.


The event is made possible thanks to these generous partners in the community: Aktion Club, Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution, Alpla, Altrusa International, Cenovus Lima Refinery, Citizens National Bank, Cotterman & Company, Lima Congress of School Administrative Personnel, Lima Education Association, Market Street Presbyterian Church and the Salvation Army.


Thanks also to the City of Lima for the use of MLK Park.

 

We will continue to accept donations until Aug. 5 at Central Services/Bus Garage, 600 E. Wayne St. It is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.


Monetary donations can be sent to Treasurer's Office at 755 St. John's Avenue, Lima, OH 45804. Please make checks payable to the Lima City Schools and write “Back to School Celebration” in the memo box.
