Lima Senior High School will celebrate its 70th Anniversary during its home boys basketball game Saturday, Jan. 24.
The Spartans host Bishop Hartley. JV starts at 4:30 p.m., with Varsity following at 6 p.m.
Alumni will be featured throughout the game, including all alumni being invited onto the gym floor to sing the Alma mater together before the game begins.
The Lima Senior Pep Band is asking band alumni to join them for the game. Alumni should email kfronzaglia@spartan.limacityschools.org or fill out the registration form here
Lima Senior Cheerleaders are also inviting former cheerleaders to join them. Email cmoseley@spartan,limacityschools.org or register here
There will be a short program during halftime, which will include alumni cheerleaders, and introducing honorary basketball captains representing various eras of Spartan Basketball. We hope to have one of our 1966 Lima Senior graduates with us as well.
Fans coming to the game can look through pictures and other memorabilia in the lobby outside the gymnasium, and attendees will receive a free commemorative keepsake with pictures and school history on it.
In addition, there will be 70th anniversary t-shirts, buttons and commemorative cookies for sale.
Lima Senior opened in 1955, bringing the Central High School Dragons and South High School Tigers under one roof to become Spartans. South and Central remained as junior high schools. The first Lima Senior Class graduated in the spring of 1956.
Questions about the evening, can be directed to Beth Jokinen at 419-996-3411 or bjokinen@spartan.limacityschools.org.
