District Plans Father's Walk

Each school in the Lima City Schools will host a Father’s Walk Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers and other positive role models in students’ lives are asked to walk their students to school, or drive them and walk them into school on this day.
The fathers and father figures will then enjoy a continental breakfast with their students and participate in an activity that each school is planning. Guests should plan to be at the school for about 30 minutes.
The walk is a positive way for fathers to connect with their children, spend time in their school and promote the importance of education. An event geared towards mothers will come later in the school year.
Below is the schedule of when the school day begins at each of the schools. Doors open 15 minutes before the start times.
West and North Middle Schools: 7:30 a.m.
Lima Senior and South Sci-Tech Magnet: 8 a.m.
Liberty Arts Magnet: 8:15 a.m.
Freedom, Heritage, Independence and Unity Elementary Schools: 8:30 a.m.
The walk is in partnership with the Allen County Fatherhood Initiative, a program through the West Ohio Community Action Partnership (WOCAP) designed to help fathers strengthen their relationships with their children, build confidence in their parenting role, and overcome barriers that may make it difficult to fully engage in their families’ lives.
