The Lima School board has hired Andre Rudolph Jr. as the district’s next superintendent.

Rudolph is currently an assistant superintendent at Reynoldsburg City Schools. He previously was director of labor relations at Cleveland Metropolitan Schools, where he earlier served as high school principal. He has also worked in Euclid City Schools and Warrensville Heights City Schools. Rudolph is a graduate of Miami University.

The school board said Rudolph brings vast experience to the district, and will do an excellent job relating to students and families. He has experience with labor relations and the ability and willingness to collaborate with staff. He is community minded and is eager to get to know the community and create partnerships.

The board received 13 applicants for the position and interviewed six. Three candidates were brought back last night for second interviews, along with a meet and greet with the public.

Superintendent Jill Ackerman announced her retirement in January. She will remain in the district until July 31. Rudolph will spend some time in the district with Ackerman until then and begin his full duties Aug. 1.

Below is a message from Mr. Rudolph:

"I am deeply honored and humbled to accept the role of Superintendent of Lima City Schools. This is more than a professional opportunity—it is a calling to serve a community rich in pride, tradition, and potential. I am committed to partnering with all stakeholders to build on the district’s strong foundation and to ensure every child receives an excellent education that'll prepare them to be leaders for years to come. Together, we will champion academic achievement, support the whole child, and create pathways that empower our students to thrive in an ever-changing world. Not only am I excited to lead with vision, integrity, and an unwavering belief in the greatness of Lima City Schools, but committed to collaboratively engaging in this work."
